AI agent startup Health Force raises €4.2 million

Health Force has raised €4.2m in Seed funding to expand its hospital AI agents into more workflows and grow its engineering and delivery teams.

The Barcelona-based health tech company develops AI agents designed to automate administrative and operational tasks in hospitals.

Founded in Vienna in 2022 by Fadi Haddad and Dr Juan Suárez, Health Force says its technology works alongside hospital operations teams, autonomously managing processes under human supervision.

Haddad, co-founder and chief executive of Health Force, said: “Hospitals don’t need another dashboard, they need the work done.

“We offer hospitals pre-trained AI agents that log into existing systems and complete real work.

“All agents run on the same platform, which means hospitals work with one partner to solve many problems.

“It also means overcoming Europe’s market fragmentation: the same platform automating hospital-insurance workflows in Italy automates SICA reporting in Portugal, and aims to automate KHVVG reporting in Germany next.”

The agents use their own computers and logins to access systems already used by hospitals and carry out tasks within those platforms.

The technology currently handles hospital-insurance operations including prior-authorisation checks, claims processing and regulatory reporting, according to the company.

Health Force describes its platform as “deterministic-first”. According to the company, this allows the actions taken by its agents to be fully traced.

The company says three out of four cases handled by its technology are completed without human involvement.

In the remaining case, it says the AI agent prepares the case before handing it to staff with exactly what needs to be checked, cutting the time it takes to resolve.

Health Force’s agents operate across hospital groups in Italy, including Humanitas and Gruppo San Donato, and handle more than 200,000 patient cases a year.

The platform is also used for hospital quality reporting in Portugal.

The funding round was led by LUMO Labs, with participation from Step Venture, Next Tier Ventures, Target Global and Calm/Storm.

Jorge Blasco, partner at LUMO Labs, said: “As hospitals look for ways to improve efficiency without placing further strain on their teams, solutions that can automate repetitive processes securely and reliably are becoming increasingly important.

“With proven deployments across leading European hospitals, Health Force has built a strong foundation for scale, and we look forward to supporting the team in its next phase of growth.”

Peter Roos, partner and chief financial officer at Target Global, said: “We backed Health Force at pre-seed and are thrilled to double down. This team cracked what many called impossible: automating hospital operations inside Europe’s most complex, legacy-bound systems.”

Health Force plans to use the capital to expand its catalogue of agents into additional hospital workflows, including quality reporting, clinical-trial operations and resource optimisation.

It also intends to grow its engineering and delivery teams and expand into Germany, France and Spain.
