Puri Pharmacy has partnered with Aide Health to provide AI-supported guidance for patients using its medicated weight loss service.
The partnership aims to improve long-term health outcomes by giving patients extra support between appointments alongside existing face-to-face care.
It marks the start of a wider digital healthcare programme using conversational AI in pharmacies to help people manage long-term health conditions.
The programme will begin with medicated weight loss services before expanding into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obesity and hypertension.
Conversational AI allows people to communicate with digital systems using everyday language. Hypertension means persistently high blood pressure.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, commonly known as COPD, is a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties.
Puri Pharmacy is a family-owned independent pharmacy business that has served local communities for more than 40 years.
It operates two pharmacies in Southall and Hillingdon and is investing in digital services to provide additional support beyond the pharmacy counter.
Patients enrolled in its medicated weight loss programme will receive AI-supported health guidance and personalised digital support alongside in-person clinician care.
The technology will provide educational material on subjects including protein intake and strength training while using weight loss medicines.
It will also provide monitoring tools and medication reminders to help patients remain engaged with their treatment plans between appointments.
The rollout comes amid growing demand for preventative, accessible and digitally enabled healthcare services, as pharmacies take a greater role in supporting people with long-term conditions.
Rahul Puri of Puri Pharmacy said: “Medicated weight loss should never be treated as a simple supply service. At Puri Pharmacy, we combine structured clinical oversight, face to face and remote consultations, personalised coaching and strong governance to help patients achieve safe, sustainable results.
“Aide Health strengthens that model by providing additional digital support between appointments. This partnership reflects our wider ambition to build Puri Pharmacy into one of the UK’s leading pharmacy led preventative health brands, focused on obesity, metabolic health and long-term condition support.”
Brian Snyder of Aide Health said: “We’ve always seen Aide as a natural fit in the pharmacy setting. This partnership shows how AI can strengthen community healthcare by giving patients personalised support throughout their treatment journey while helping clinicians deliver more proactive care.
“By combining trusted pharmacy services with digital health technology, we can help improve patient engagement, support long-term health outcomes and reduce pressure on NHS services.”
The partnership comes as community pharmacies across the UK expand their role in frontline healthcare, including prevention, early intervention and the management of chronic illnesses closer to home.
Puri Pharmacy provides services tailored to patients in Southall and Hillingdon.
Both locations offer the NHS Pharmacy First service, which allows patients to receive treatment for seven common conditions without first seeing a GP.
These include sore throats, ear infections and urinary tract infections.
Aide Health is a UK digital health company focused on improving medication adherence, patient engagement and health literacy through conversational AI.
Medication adherence means taking medicines as prescribed, while health literacy is a person’s ability to understand and use health information.
The company said its digital tools are already being used across NHS England to support people with type 2 diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension and chronic kidney disease.
Its technology has received backing from the National Institute for Health and Care Research and Innovate UK.
