American Heart Association opens applications for 2026 Health Tech Competition
Applications have opened for American Health Association’s Health Tech Competition, which will select five finalists working on cardiovascular and brain health technologies.
The global competition is seeking market-ready technologies for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions including high blood pressure, stroke and heart failure.
Five finalists will pitch their technologies at Scientific Sessions 2026, taking place from 6 to 9 November at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The competition is hosted by the American Heart Association Center for Technology & Innovation.
It is open to emerging companies with market-ready solutions supported by clinical or pilot data and a viable business model.
Organisers are looking for technologies that actively engage patients, support clinicians and demonstrate measurable potential to improve patient outcomes across a wide range of care settings.
Digital health, artificial intelligence and remote patient monitoring are among the technologies highlighted by the organisers.
The competition focuses on clinical validation and alignment with evidence-based care, with the aim of positioning technologies for adoption in real-world healthcare settings.
Nancy Brown, chief executive of the American Heart Association, said: “For more than a century, the American Heart Association has been at the intersection of science, research, clinical expertise and innovation to drive improvements in cardiovascular and brain health.
“Through the Health Tech Competition, we continue that work by helping advance evidence-based solutions that address today’s most pressing health challenges and reach people where they live, work and receive care.”
Applications are open until 18 September 2026, with the five finalists due to be announced on 10 October.
Live pitches will take place on 7 and 8 November during Scientific Sessions, with the winner scheduled to be announced on 9 November.
