University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust implementation of a single integrated EPR (Epic) goes live with first-of-type integration with K2 INFANT-Guardian for maternity services.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP), which supports nearly 3,400 births each year, has gone live with a first-of-type Electronic Patient Record (EPR) integration between Harris Health Alliance’s K2 INFANT-Guardian fetal monitoring and archiving solution within Epic’s EPR platform, providing a connected digital environment that brings together specialist maternity workflows and an enterprise Trust-wide EPR.
This implementation enables maternity services to benefit from both a Trust-wide EPR with integrated specialist functionality that supports complex maternity workflows.
By connecting systems and enabling information to move seamlessly across care settings, the solution helps reduce duplication, simplify workflows and supports a joined-up experience for maternity services and the community they provide for.
Developed in partnership with clinicians and operational teams at UHP, this integrated solution demonstrates how healthcare organisations can connect specialist clinical systems with enterprise wide EPR’s supporting both organisational priorities and patient care.
This solution was co-designed through a series of workshops involving clinicians, digital teams and operational stakeholders, ensuring the final design reflects the needs of UHP’s maternity services.
The integrated approach supports a more complete and connected maternity record, helping improve information sharing across care teams and supporting the consistent documentation, communication and clinical oversight that underpin safe maternity care.
