Numan’s clinical strategy chief joins line-up for Health Tech World Live
Dr James Harmsworth King, the man shaping the clinical thinking behind Numan’s healthspan mission, has been confirmed as a speaker at Health Tech World Live this August — adding another major voice to a programme already stacked with the people deciding how AI gets used in health.
Dr Harmsworth King is Chief Medical Strategy Officer at Numan, where he leads the clinical strategy spanning the company’s product, coaching, governance and its growing use of AI in healthcare. He joins the bill for The future of healthcare AI — strategies, opportunities and vital insights, the one-day event hosted by global media platform Health Tech World in partnership with Teesside University London, taking place on Friday 21 August at the university’s London campus in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford.
Drawing on Numan’s experience inside the MHRA’s AI Airlock — the regulator’s sandbox for testing AI medical devices — he’ll set out what it actually takes to test and deploy AI responsibly under real regulatory scrutiny. He also speaks as a senior clinical spokesperson for the Coalition of Responsible Digital Health.
Before Numan, Dr Harmsworth King co-founded the digital healthcare and analytics company Eos Analytics, acquired by Evergreen Health Solutions in 2019. As Chief Medical Officer and Director of R&D at Evergreen, he built the company’s machine learning, product and service design strategy, helping drive growth from 50 to 500 employees and from £500,000 to more than £35m in annual revenue — making it the UK’s fastest-growing technology company in 2025. The products his teams built now improve clinical outcomes for more than three million NHS patients, and he secured multi-million-pound regional SaaS and UKRI contracts through direct relationships with NHS commissioners and research organisations.
His grounding is academic as well as commercial. Dr Harmsworth King began his research career at the University of Cambridge working on the computational modelling of Sudden Cardiac Death, work that has since broadened into the wider application of AI in healthcare. He holds an honorary research position in Computer Science at the University of Durham, and his publications have been presented globally and gathered more than 500 citations.
He joins a line-up that already includes Dr Sonia Szamocki, founder and CEO of 32Co; Hugo Dragonetti of NHS London Procurement Partnership; Mikael Kågebäck, Chief Technology Officer at Sleep Cycle; Max Gattlin, Commercial Director at X-on Health; and Marcus Vass, Head of Digital Health at Osborne Clarke. Proceedings will be chaired by Alastair MacColl.
