Selena Gomez has asked a court to dismiss a fraud lawsuit brought by investors in mental health startup Wondermind, calling the allegations legally deficient.
Gomez, 34, filed the motion on Wednesday in Delaware federal court after being named in a lawsuit earlier this month alleging fraud and breach of contract.
The complaint also names her mother Mandy Teefey, former Wondermind executive and co-founder Daniella Pierson and Wondermind Global.
Gomez’s filing describes the accusations as “vague, generalised and contradictory” and says she “could not have possibly engaged in any ‘fraud’ and is not liable”.
It also characterises the allegations as “egregiously improper and legally deficient”.
“The notion that Ms. Gomez engaged in any form of ‘fraud’ is absurd.
“She should never have been dragged into this action and we respectfully submit she must be dismissed,” the filing says.
The plaintiffs, investor groups Wondermind SRS 44, LLC and Bespoke Wondermind SPV I, LLC, said they invested close to US$1.2m in Wondermind.
They said they were told Gomez would be closely involved in building and marketing for the company, but that she was not.
The complaint also details a series of alleged failures at Wondermind that the investors say they were unaware of until a news article was published in September 2025.
The lawsuit sought to recover the plaintiffs’ investment in Wondermind as well as other fees or relief.
