Undecimal Bio raises €16m to advance AI-powered RNA drug delivery

Undecimal Bio has raised €16m in seed funding to expand its AI-powered RNA delivery platform, advance renovascular research programmes and grow its team.

The Cambridge-based company, a spin-out from Eleven Therapeutics, will use the investment to expand DELiveri, a platform designed to identify chemical compounds that can direct RNA medicines to specific types of cells.

The funding will also support the company’s renovascular programmes and team expansion at its laboratories based at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute.

The technology focuses on small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutics, which use a biological process called RNA interference to silence genes involved in disease.

Dr Yaniv Erlich, chief executive and co-founder of Undecimal Bio, said: “We are excited to bring these advances to develop the next generation of siRNA therapeutics for the benefit of patients.”

RNA interference has enabled treatments for diseases involving genes expressed in the liver, but delivering these medicines to other tissues remains a significant challenge.

Undecimal says DELiveri could help address this by screening large libraries of chemical compounds, known as ligands, to identify candidates that can help deliver siRNA to target cells.

The platform uses cells to detect successful delivery at single-molecule resolution. AI then analyses the results to identify relationships between chemical structures and delivery effectiveness.

The approach combines large-scale combinatorial chemistry, which generates numerous combinations of compounds, with transformer-based AI to identify promising delivery candidates.

Founded in 2026, Undecimal is initially applying the technology to renovascular diseases, which affect the blood vessels supplying the kidneys.

The company says existing treatments largely address symptoms rather than underlying causes.

It believes targeted siRNA delivery could enable more precise silencing of biological pathways involved in disease, potentially producing longer-lasting therapeutic effects.

The €16m seed round was co-led by 4BIO Capital and IQ Capital, with participation from Verve Ventures, Harel Tech, Entree Capital, Kerna Ventures and Saras Capital.

Undecimal’s board includes representatives from 4BIO Capital, IQ Capital and Harel Technologies, alongside co-founders Erlich and Shaul Ilan.

Alongside the financing, Verve Ventures joins the board as an observer.
